Dark green. Onyx produces a high yield and long, straight cylindrical squash measuring 7 to 8 inches on a compact bush. This hybrid features glossy black-green fruit with a nice, mild flavor. Maturity is early at 50-55 days. Onyx has been a top performer year in and year out and its outstanding yields set the standard in the industry. With excellent fruit quality and consumer appeal, Onyx continues to lead the market today. Cylindrically shaped, Onxy is a bright shiny dark green zucchini with very fine speckling. Distinguished in appearance, Onyx has great consumer appeal and does very well in the fresh market. This vigorous plant is semi-open and petioles are semi-spined making Onyx easy to pick. My 'Horstmann's Silberlocke' is about 12 feet tall and had been doing very nicely for a decade until midsummer this year, when I noticed one branch that had turned entirely rust-brown. Every other part of the tree appears absolutely healthy. I cut off the dead branch and burned it. I assume something happened to the root that fed that branch. Is there another possible explanation?
